How to Use

The basics of using Koura Diary.

Getting Started

• The app is ready to use the moment you open it (no sign-in required; it starts anonymously).
• First, register the tortoise (animal) you keep. You can enter its name, species, sex, adoption date, and more, and set a profile photo.
• If you keep several, you can register as many as you like and switch between them at the top of the screen.

Daily Records

You can record easily from the day’s card.

• Weight / carapace length (g / cm)
• Temperature / humidity (habitat)
• Food (what you fed; a nutrition-balance guide is shown)
• Excretion (yes / no)
• Carapace photo (to record growth)
• Notes (free text)

Using “carry over the previous record” lets you quickly fill in items that don’t change.

Looking Back

• Charts … See trends in weight and carapace length, and the distribution of food.
• Calendar … Check things like excretion month by month.
• Album … Line up carapace photos chronologically to look back on growth. Tap a photo to enlarge and save it.

Sharing with Family (Households)

• Create a “household” to share records with family.
• Once shared, members of the same household can view and edit records, photos, and animal profiles.
• You can leave a household at any time. Choose whom to share with at your own discretion (see the Terms of Use).

Reminders

• To help you not forget care, you can set notification reminders (local notifications on the device). Adjust them from Settings.

Backup and Restore

• From “Settings → Data and Backup,” you can back up (export) and restore (import) all data, including photos.
• When you change devices, you can restore from a backup to carry everything over.

Account / Leaving

• With Apple / Google sign-in, you can link an account used for multi-device sync and household sharing (optional).
• You can leave (delete your account) from Settings. Linked data is deleted as well.

FAQ

Do I need to sign in? No. You can use all features without signing in. Linking is only needed when you want to sync or share.

How much should I trust the health / nutrition display? It’s a general guide. It is not a diagnosis, so if you are worried, consult a veterinarian who handles reptiles (see the Disclaimer).

Can I carry data over when I change devices? Yes. You can carry it over via Apple / Google sync, or via backup → restore.

Are there ads? No. There is no tracking, either (see the Privacy Policy).
